AppDay Sunday

Here’s a roundup of the week’s very best app releases and top apps of the week and updates. We’ll be posting each Sunday after we sort through everything and select the best apps for you.Without further ado, here are this week’s AppDay Sunday to check out.

  1. Live GIF
  2. Comic Chameleon
  3. Kibo
  4. Photoshop Fix

1. Live GIF

AppDay Sunday

Live Photos is one of the stand-out new features on the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. It captures a short video while you’re taking pictures, which you can then watch back, and interact with using 3D Touch on your Lock Screen. A company named Priime launched a new app which makes them easily shareable and viewable with anyone, regardless of device or platform.

Live GIF is the first app of its kind and lets any iPhone 6s or 6s Plus user turn their Live Photos into GIFs which can then be shared by MMS, email, or shared on social media. The best part is, it doesn’t really require much setting up. Launch the app and it automatically detects any Live Photos on your phone, displays them in a grid (as shown below). Once you’ve picked one to share, you can choose either to ‘share as GIF’ or ‘share as video’, then select which service you want to share them on, and you’re done.

Available On: iOS

Price: Rs. 120

2. Comic Chameleon

AppDay Sunday

I am routinely torn between how terrible the mobile web is and my desire to consume webcomics while I’m somewhere other than my desk. There’re not a lot of great experiences out there that also make sure the people making the comics also get paid, and until recently even fewer of those options existed on Android.

This week Comic Chameleon made its way from iOS to Android, and it’s everything I’ve wanted out of a comic reader app. I’ve got a favorites list assembled, and the way the app jumps from panel to panel makes it thoroughly enjoyable on just about everything.

Available On: iOS, Android

Price: Free

3. Kibo

AppDay Sunday

Just when you thought the wonderful world of digital messaging couldn’t get any more rich and layered, along comes another app to prove there are more ideas in the digital sphere than can be contained within the average web user’s philosophy. Just don’t call Kibo a messaging app. It is, in fact, an iOS keyboard app for sending hidden messages within other messaging apps’ messages — be that WhatsApp or iMessage or Facebook or whatever.

Why would you want to do that? Perhaps your parents or siblings are snooping around on your phone. Or you’re worried about message notifications flashing up on your lock screen and being read by the prying eyes of colleagues or your S.O. Whatever may be the reason, Kibo makes your messages secure!

Available On: iOS

Price: Free

5. Photoshop Fix

AppDay Sunday

Built on Photoshop technology, Photoshop Fix empowers you to do serious image retouching and restoration on your iPad or iPhone. Heal, smooth, liquify, lighten and make other edits and adjustments that give you the precise look you’re after.

Photoshop Fix is a new standalone app from Adobe that breaks off many of Photoshop’s retouching capabilities – and gives them to you for free. You can do things like smooth or sharpen “objects” (think skin), or use the “liquify” tool to reshape any area as if it were liquid.

Available On: iOS, Android

Price: Free
