Qiku's Q Terra and Q Luna Are Ready To Shake Up Asian Markets

Qiku, a joint venture between Qihoo 360 and Coolpad, today announced its entry into the Asian smartphone market, with 2 new cutting-edge Android phones that come with features not found on any other phone on the market – Q Terra Q Luna

The companies have combined their strengths to deliver a new standard for user experience in mobile imaging. Qiku is a Beijing-based joint venture between Qihoo 360, a leading China-based Internet company, and Coolpad, a China-based producer of smartphones and other electronic products.

The new smartphone line includes a high-end (Q Terra) and entry-level (Q Luna) models for all markets. Without compromising on the high-end performance smartphone users demand, the Qiku phones provide consumers with unprecedented safety and security features other phones can’t match.

Both the phones use the 360 OS operating system, a variation of Android 5.1 Lollipop with added security features. Other noteworthy features of the Qiku phones include high-end processors, unusually long battery life, full metal body design and a back-side fingerprint scanner.

Starting with the Q Terra, it is the company’s high end smartphone. The Q Terra comes in full aluminum body and curved edges. According to the company it is a High Strength Aluminum alloy with minimal weight to keep the phone light. It sure does look premium – looks very similar to the HTC One or the iPhone 6.

The other incredible features that Qiku has to offer in Q Terra is the 2K display. It also comes with a smart technology that will embody the screen with optimal effect by using GPU algorithms that adjust the colour temperature and the saturation depending on what is currently on the screen.

On the performance side, the Q Terra comes with 4GB RAM and 2 GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 810. This thing is going to perform like a beast with the most advanced cooling modes – Thermal metal back and space cooling system.

However the most eye catching thing about the Q Terra’s hardware is that it has two 13MP cameras on the back of the device, one of which is RGBW technology to capture all the colours and other one is Black & White to capture as much light as possible.

The charging and battery on the device is beast as well. You can charge your phone for up to 2 hours of usage in under 5 minutes. This is blazing fast compared to the current flagships. The beast has a huge 3600 mAh battery that takes only, and only 70 mins to get fully charged!

It also has a finger print sensor on the back of the device like all the flagships today. The Fingerprint sensor is situated on the back of the device under the camera, just like the new Nexus devices. The company claims you can unlock your phone in under 0.5 seconds. That’s also super fast!

Talking about the Q Luna, it is the company’s entry level smartphone. The Q Luna comes in full aluminum body and curved edges. According to the company it is a High Strength Aluminum alloy with minimal weight to keep the phone light. It also have a beautiful texture to it.

The front of the device is shockingly beautiful, it has an almost no bezel display, and the screen looks crispy as hell. The side bezel is only 2.48 mm thin! That’s one bezel less phone. Other than that it has a 5.5 inch screen which fits perfectly into the hand.

Q Luna

The camera on the Q Luna is a 13MP shooter and can take amazing photos. There’s nothing fancy going here except the filters, but hey, this is a budget friendly phone. The device also has a front facing 8MP camera with FotoNation 4.0 algorithms – designed to make your selfies more beautiful.


The Qiku phones will start shipping in China in September, India in October and Indonesia later this year. Distribution to additional countries, including Brazil, Russia and Turkey, will follow.
