The OnePlus One was touted as a ‘flagship killer’ when it was launched last year, and managed to garner a massive fan following around the globe. However, the OnePlus 2, does make the cut.
While the specs sure look interesting, OnePlus has gone off the beaten path to unveil it. The OnePlus 2 was revealed to the world officially via a VR launch experience, which is a world first.
As far as the new device is concerned, it’s exactly what the brand had promised. Body sporting a metal frame made out of lightweight aluminium alloy, it offers good build quality. There’s a fingerprint scanner built into the physical home button, and it can store up to five fingerprints.
A hardware sliding switch is built into the side. Dubbed the ‘Alert Slider’, it offers quick switching between notification settings.
Software wise, the OnePlus 2 runs OxygenOS, the brand’s own custom ROM which uses the latest version of Android Lollipop as base. The platform offers near-stock interface, along with a bunch of tweaks that let you change a few settings as per your own preferences. OnePlus says it has made subtle changes that add value to the user experience.

- Smaller Screen
- No Quick Charge
- No NFC
- Non Removable Battery
We still think that the Pros outweigh the Cons, and at INR 22,999 OnePlus 2 is a killer device.
The OnePlus 2 will be available in the brand’s classic Sandstone Black finish. However, OnePlus will be also introducing four new StyleSwap covers for the device – Bamboo, Black Apricot, Rosewood and Kevlar.
