We’ve seen a bunch of Android One handsets since the platform made its debut last September, but none of them have been anywhere near as pretty as the Lava Pixel V1, which combines decent midrange specifications with a sleek glass and metal form factor.
The Pixel V1 is the first Android One smartphone from Indian manufacturer Lava Mobiles, and it is to good to ignore!
By the way – is that metal on the sides and back? Indeed it is, which makes this a huge jump for the Android One venture. Most other phones have features cheap plastic bodies that leave much to be desired in terms of aesthetics.
I have to say the Lava Pixel V1 is very sleek and refined. The bezels are thin and the phone manages to look very sophisticated.
It also promises 2 years free Android upgrades, thanks to Google tie up! Furthermore, the phone will priced very well considering what it seems to offer, as it should cost ₹11,350
|Display||5.5 inch HD IPS screen|
|Processor||1.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor (64-Bit)|
|ROM||32GB (Expandable via MicroSD card upto 32 GB)|
13 Megapixel rear camera
5 Megapixel front camera
|Battery||2,650 mAh battery|
|Operating System||Android 5.1.1 Lollipop (Android One)|
Those are impressive specifications for an Android One device, but the Pixel V1’s design is its real selling point. Its display is covered in DragonTrail Glass by Asahi – an alternative to Gorilla Glass – and it has a removable metal back with rear-facing loudspeaker.
Lava Pixel V1 price in India will be Rs. 11,349. It come with upgraded specs compared to first gen Android One smartphones. It is listed on MySmartPrice. With this handset, Google enters a new generation of Android One smartphones, with an improvement to design and specs unlike what we have seen before, coming from this project.
Google has opted with Flipkart for Lava Pixel V1 online launch, available offline as well. Unlike the first-gen Android One smartphones, the Lava Pixel V1 will be available online as well as offline. It will go on sale exclusively via Flipkart from July 27 onwards. Also on offer are two color variants: White Silver and gold.

Based on the hardware on offer, the phone is certainly better positioned as an alternative to the likes of Xiaomi, Lenovo, Huawei and Motorola. What do you guys think? Would you buy a phone like the Lava Pixel V1 if you were in need of an affordable handset?
