Facebook Moments Wants To Help You Share Photos

Facebook Moments

Facebook released a new app called Moments that is targeted at making it much easier to exchange photos that you and your friends took at the same event. The goal is to make sharing and organizing group shots and other pictures much easier.

Billed as a private way to share photos with friends and an easy way to get all the photos of yourself trapped on your friends’ phones, Moments for iPhone by Facebook is now available for download in the App Store. When you fire up Moments, it shows you events batched together by event as determined by the time-specific metadata of your photos. In the event that it recognizes someone in your photos, it will suggest you share that image with them. If it doesn’t recognize anyone, you can still manually add them from your friends.

Their new iPhone app lets you organize and sync multiple photos in private albums that can be shared directly on Facebook or Instagram, and sent via Messenger. Using facial recognition, Moments groups your photos based on who’s in them and when they were taken. Your friends can then contribute to the synced moment with their own photos. Using Moments, you can search for photos of yourself and your friends, save the ones others sync to you to your iPhone’s Camera roll and more.

What’s a little annoying is that it’s yet another app that you need to download from Facebook. The company just keeps fragmenting its service. Just consider what happens in this case: If the person you’re attempting to share photos with in Moments doesn’t have the app installed, it sends a preview to Messages yet another Facebook app. If they wanna see the photos, though, they’re gonna have to get their Moments on.

Facebook Moments highlights:

  • Keep all your photos organized in one private place
  • Sync multiple photos at once—no need to text or email individual photos
  • Search to find photos of yourself and your friends
  • Save photos other people sync to you on your phone’s camera roll
  • Share directly on Facebook or Instagram, and send in Messenger if you want

More about the app is available at the official website.
