Recently Honor 5X was announced in India but seems like Huawei is already working on another variant of Huawei Honor series which is the Honor 5C. Huawei Honor 5C has a 5.2 inch display and a powerful 2.0GHz octa core processor & more.
In a surprising move Xiaomi has announced that they will be providing their famous PickMi service across India. The service was earlier on only available for 3 cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
Last year in 2014 when Xiaomi came to India, the smartphone segment in India was mainly dominated by the likes of Samsung and Micromax.
Not a lot of people knew what or who Xiaomi was even after their entry in the indian market.
Only some people like us knew the company. the company brought the Mi3 in india for a price of 13,999/- which was a crazy low price tag for it’s specs the phone offered a lot for the price like snapdragon 800, 2Gb ram, 16Gb internal Memory, 1080p screen and a good build quality and good design.
I bought the mi3 for my mom on the launch day… and to be frank I know 4 more people in my friend circle who all own the mi3 and are still happy with it’s performance. The price to performance for that phone was really high at the launch time.
Xiaomi was arguably responsible for Single-handedly changing the smartphone scene in the Indian market.
Xiaomi had a great run in India for about an year with some minor ups and downs but the problem has come up now!
Xiaomi’s current mobile segment fails to excite us, right now they are selling redmi 2/prime, redmi note 4G (Out Of Stock), mi4i (Heating Issues), mi4 (No 4G Support) in India. whereas there are some phones that are missing in the Indian market and are only available in the Chinese market right now…
Mi Note and Mi Note Pro : Phones were announced in Jan of 2015 where the mi note was available for sale immediately but the mi note pro came on sale in late march, but the phones has not yet been launched in India.
Redmi Note 2/Prime : Launched in august, the phone is powered by a mediatek chip and packs great power and comes for a very low price. The phone offers extraordinary price to performance but only for china right now.

All the above listed phones are great for the price but as the mi note/pro have been out in the market for a long time now and I personally don’t think it’s any good compared to the competition.
The really interesting phones that xiaomi has launched and has us all interested back into the company are the Redmi Note 2/Prime and mi4c.
The Redmi Note 2/Prime is powered by a mediatek chip, which xiaomi is banned to sell in india. xiaomi had lost a case against Ericsson late last year where the verdict said that xiaomi couldn’t sell any phones powered by a mediatek chipset.
This is the reason given to the indian buyers for not launching the redmi note 2 in India but, we think that this could be solved easily if Xiaomi agrees to pay Ericsson a little royalty over the phone. If we assume that xiaomi has to pay a royalty of INR 500 per mobile (which isn’t really very high, just assuming) we would not really mind buying the redmi note 2 prime for 10,500. The phone will offer a lot for that price too.
The Mi4c was launched in china this week only and comes with great specs and a crazy low price tag. The phone comes with snapdragon 808 for just 1499 chinese yuan. The phone has the capability of out-performing phones with double the price of mi4c but we have heard many rumors that the mi4c may not come to India just like mi note/Pro.
Xiaomi right now has 2 phones that can literally disrupt the Indian market and force other competition to think. but the point is whether Xiaomi will launch these phone in the Indian market or not if yes they have to act fast as the Indian market has changed a lot since the launch of mi3. Now there are many competitor of the Xiaomi that have realised that the prices have to go low and the performace have to go high.
If Xiaomi wants to regain our trust and loyalty back they need to do something, and soon…
